“ I’d just like to say how thrilled and delighted I am to have been asked to become a Patron of Blackfish Arts Academy. For me, it is so important that our young people are given every opportunity to nurture their creative talents in all aspects of the business and the Blackfish Academy not only provides that opportunity but helps to build confidence and communication skills, acting as a major stepping stone to prospective professional careers. I feel this is so vital to the future of live theatre and as such, am honoured to be involved in the project in this way. I look forward to watching the future of the Academy with eager anticipation.”

Lots of Love

Following formal drama training, Vicki quickly won a variety of roles in film, television and on stage but it was her portrayal of Yvette in the hit BBC series Allo Allo that gained her worldwide recognition. Vicki played Yvette for all nine series with the stage version taking her both on national and international tours including venues in Australia and New Zealand smashing box office records, not to mention two seasons in London’s West End at the Palladium followed by the Prince of Wales and Dominion Theatres.
Vicki began her extensive acting career playing leading straight roles in such series as Softly Softly, The Professionals and Minder but her wonderful gift for comedy timing soon brought us to the roles we are more familiar with. On television she has worked with such comedy greats as Les Dawson, The Two Ronnies, Ken Dodd and Lenny Henry to name but a few and appeared in such series as Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, Are You Being Served, Come Back Mrs Noah and was a regular guest performer as the amorous next door neighbour of Noel Edmonds in the hugely popular Saturday primetime series Noel’s Houseparty. Earlier this year, Vicki returned to her more dramatic roots, playing Emma, the screen wife of Ray Winstone in the hard hitting channel 4 film All in the Game.
In addition, she has also appeared on countless chat and game shows including most recently, Comedy Connections and television’s scariest quiz The Weakest Link.
Film credits include The Greek Tycoon, The Sentinel, The Priest of Love, The Likely Lads, George and Mildred and The Colour of Funny.
In recent years, Vicki has been in much demand in the theatre where her warmth and ability to reach the audience across the footlights have won her countless fans and much critical acclaim. Her West End debut came opposite Dudley Moore in Play It Again Sam at the Globe Theatre and she has gone on to play the leading roles of Vera in Dr in the House, Mina in Dracula, Renee in Women of a Certain Age, Ruth in the two Alan Ayckbourn plays Round and Round the Garden and Table Manners, Sally in Bedside Manners, Glenda Parry in The Tart and the Vicar’s Wife, Hilda Bigley in Business Affairs, Pamela Willey in Out of Order and Maxine in Stepping Out adding tap dancing to her repertoire. Vicki is currently touring as Betty Johnson in the Ray Cooney farce Funny Money.
An accomplished musical performer, she has starred in the British musical version of Beauty and the Beast, played the two hugely diverse roles of Lady Raeburn and Asphynxia in Salad Days, to which she is set to return next month and perhaps most notably, her wonderfully dynamic portrayal as the tyrannical and incorrigible Miss Hannigan in Annie. Vicki’s most recent performances in this role were for Kevin Wood Productions at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury last year and so the connection with Richard Esdale, who played her brother Rooster, was made.
